Do You think a cell phone is a nescessity for business?

To me, I think that it's important for some people to be able to connect with me if needed. The thing about phones these days is that the call you make these days is directly to the person you need to talk to. It used to be, not that long ago really, that you called a Land Line and hoped the person you wanted to talk to was there and available! Now, who you call, with cell phones, is only the person that you're calling! Things do seem to change quickly these days compared to say, 10 years ago!  I, myself, prefer to talk to somebody directly if I need something.  If I have to leave a message I can only hope that they will respond, but I know that it went to them and not someone else!  Oh, and by the way, I do not go online through a phone. I only return calls or answer calls with my cell phone. Everything else happens through my computer.

In Real Life, cellphone is a very convinient tool that you should have especialy in doing business, but probably in most online businesses that is not the case

It depends who you are dealing with.  Many seniors still have a landline and turn their cell phones off when they are home and when they leave the house, part of the time they forget to take their phones with them    But, if you call their landline and they are not at home, most older folks have an answering machine.  When dealing with everyone else, they all have cell phones.  That's a given now-a-days.

smartphones are really useful for people thaat  travel and whant to be connected with their  jobs.. on some years phablets  will be more popular than smartphones for people that use it  for work.

Lots of food for thought in all your comments.  I live in a rural community where I can't even answer a call.  I can use wifi on the phone.

Mostly I have a cell for for emergency's when traveling the highway though.  I do like my big screen and keyboard on my computer.  I did not buy a lap top because when I sit down to work that's what I do.  I thought a lap top would make it to easy to spend all my time on the computer which

also seems what people are doing with their phones to.  I think we need time away from technical devices.

As long as it is a Smart Phone. There is a lot of difference between phones both cell and non cell.

 

The Smart Phone is more a tablet PC then a phone. I have been using these kinds of devices for years now, in fact there was a time when I had a palm pilot which I wished I could make call with. The Smart Phones are the answer to that hope from way beck then. I love having a functioning PC that also doubles as a Phone. Also as a fan of the Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy I am just waiting for the thumb button so I can travel  the galaxy.

I don't do any business on my phone. The screen is too small and the keyboard is inadequate. Misspellings or wrong auto-corrected words have no place in a professional email!

Smart phones are great for texting and keeping track of kids and grandkids, but for business purposes I prefer a desktop or laptop.  BTW, I dislike texting, but it is a necessary evil now-a-days.  If you want to stay current, learn how to do it.
