I have had lifetime memberships in several programs in the past couple of years, built up credits, have gotten good leads and then the programs die or sale to some one else and I loose everything I invested in them. That then became a free lifetime top upgrade when it got converted to a viral mailer on the LFMVM script. The original owner has a very big heart, and she sold the site in good faith to another admin. The new admin made a good go of it too. Its a pity its gone now, but I must say, while it was online, it was one my best sites for results. I've lost plenty of mailers where I upgraded "for life". Member numbers just don't grow very faster to justify the prices charged for upgrades. Seems like more and more are shutting down or being sold and dying slow deaths. People nowadays want instant gratification (money for nothing), and that is the reason mailers (what most people are now calling viral mailers), will never be a huge market. By the way, what is so viral about these mailers, they are mailers, nothing viral about them. Having a DLB doesn't make it viral, or a list builder. When you come with an enthusiastic approach to promoting a particular program, safelist, traffic exchange, etc...you leave yourself open to this type of thing. I spent a couple of years writing lists of safelists and traffic exchanges, eliminating the ones with no results after split testing landing pages, etc. Mind numbing and it took hours, days, weeks! These posts are not updated we need fresh blood in hereanyhow i agree with this. nonetheless i have quite a few upgraded mailers due to buying other stuffs andit came along with it. once i upgraded on my own because the owner seemed like a friend still does.
