You will never success online or offline doing BUSY WORK.

 

What's BUSY WORK?

 

Busy work (also referred to as make-work and busywork) can refer to activity that is undertaken to pass time and stay busy but in and of itself has no actual value.

 

People may engage in busy work to maintain an appearance of activity, in order to avoid criticism of being inactive or idle.

 

Do You Do Busy Work and wonder why your business isn't Growing?

interesting topic Kirk . .

My Take on this  -> There are 4 category of surfers as per me

A. Serious professional marketers ,very select but mainly those who are business owners

B.Hard core Surfers who try to surf their socks off trying to make a living by surfing/participating in promos

C.Casual surfers -> Those who are part-timers and surf just for fun

D.The confused lot -> Those who just surf surf and surf .But keep on groping for references since they don't have the ideal marketing strategy

 

My take on the term "Busy work". Yes initially to establish oneself one has to work his/her socks off to establish his/her identity by doing not only surfing but also building up a brand name for himself/herself among the online fraternity.

So yes being busy is an integral part of gaining that ultimate recognition and being busy comes naturally once you are deeply involved into something.

But yes  someone pretending to be busy is most likely to fail /taste very limited success

I agree, some may be doing "busy work", to avoid the Real Work. .....But some may believe they are doing work.  My question is it really "Busy Work", or they aren't sure what to do? Perhaps, they haven't figured out what their targeted activities are just yet, so they are just doing SOMETHING (aka "Busy Work") until they can figure out the work that is effective and efficient.

I have a friend, who I haven't seen in a long time. He was a good team member of ours, but openly admitted that he's only surfing so that his mother-in-law sees that he is busy "working". Its a pity that he didn't stick it out though, because he's a unique, talented and intelligent young man. When he did start to work in some directions, with good programs, he was able to grasp the concepts quickly and produce great campaigns. Then one day he told me its summer holidays in his country and he'd be offline for some months. We haven't seen him since B)

Going by the market analysis, almost 95 % people putting efforts in online business don't earn anything and even end up losing money. The scams and sites not giving withdrawals are plenty.

My friend said that this is a game. One should know when to enter and when to exit.

I myself have been in online biz since 2009 and net result is loss only.

Even good reliable biz like AIOP, GDI GVOHost then profit it is not easy to make money unless you find the products as value for money for the monthly subscription that you keep paying.

 

Yes! 95% people have not figured out the work that is effective and efficient but then who is at fault? Company? Team Leaders?

I think the mistake people make, which causes them to keep spinning their tires is not doing things that create leverage and long-term value. For example, I tell people to build their list, because that is leverage you can use years from now. Once you've built a list it is always there (sure some unsubscribe), and it is literally push button easy to share something with them. I took this approach early on to Traffic Exchanges, I promoted the ones that give free bonus credits for referral & downline activity.. those downlines grew and continue to create free traffic for me without me doing anything. Leverage is key to being really successful.

"Busy work" can also equate to doing something that seems like work but doesn't produce any profits or results. We are all guilty of spending a lot of time and effort (and sometimes money) doing something that produces nothing.

 

Sending a lot of traffic to something nobody wants to buy or an ad that doesn't convert can be considered busy work. Building a list that has no sales or response can also be considered busy work. In both cases, the mechanics are simple but getting the desired results is not so easy or simple. We sometimes can't see the forest for the trees, we forget to think about all the little things that are involved in a successful list or ad and if we are actually able to follow through.

 

Both of the above, checking our email continually, or surfing aimlessly all produce the same results - nothing. We all tend to gravitate to the things we know and can do well, even if they don't actually produce the results we want. 

 

We all like to fool ourselves into thinking we are doing something important even if it doesn't produce any results. We all fall into the trap of seeing the surface things successful people are doing and not going deeper. Sure, there are people who sell a lot from ads and email marketing, but it is more than the simple mechanics that make them successful. If it were just the simple mechanics, we would all be rich right?

 

It may be, as Clare said, a matter of needing income now, not later. Then we tend to scatter ourselves all over the place, work our butts off, and have nothing to show for all we did instead of learning and concentrating on one single method until it works for us. It is a matter of everything works and nothing works. This all comes back to information overload and desperation. We try to do everything and nothing works.

 

We try to do what people tell us we need to do or see others doing without any real understanding of WHY it works and HOW to make it work for us. It is not usually a matter of when your list reaches 10,000 money will magically flow into your bank account or when you get 10,000 hits on your ad it will bring floods of cash. If it doesn't work at all on a small scale, throwing money or more work at it won't make it work on a larger scale. You need to understand why it isn't working for you and fix it or you are doing busy work.

 

I am no way saying what you are doing is a waste of time or effort; on the contrary you have to learn what actually does work for you. You do have to get something to work to be able to leverage it (as Darren said) into other areas. It comes back to the basics of offering something of more value than we are asking and showing it to people who want to buy it. Instead of saying, "This isn't working I need to understand why and fix it" we try something else and spin our wheels again. There are a LOT of different ways people are making money online aren't they?

 

So in the end, "busy work" can be anything we do that produces no more money in our pockets. We need to all take a deeper, honest look at what we are doing and if it is working. If it isn't working, we realize that, don't fix it, and keep doing it - it is busy work.

Perhaps the situation with some marketers, is that, the more urgent immediate income is for them, the less time they will take to build their businesses properly.

My thoughts exactly. Most people resort to online income because they are hoping to make money fast and they are unaware that there are processes that initiate earning. When they are already in that mentality and they discover an advertisement that confirms what they are looking for its only trouble added because there are hidden details. Yes you can make up to $500 a day, but it's not from thin air (unless you're good at manifesting money). It requires a good amount of effort and time unless you have the money to invest in education, systems, and advertising from the beginning. So people say "$500 a day? Good stuff!" But when they find out there's work involved they either quit or do the least amount of research and advertising possible (busy work- spamming, sending one or two emails a day, surf 5 pages in one exchange, relying on free methods) while expecting a big return.

It's time to get traffic that pays! Endless chains of $20 commissions and downline building on autopilot.....WHO WANTS IT?

Some times, I feel like all I do is "busy work" :P But building a solid foundation, learning a new technique, or doing research is important too... the difference seems to be whether you have a plan or are just randomly clicking or mindlessly scrolling through social media (which I have been guilty of from time to time!  ;) )

Most people who are just starting out make the mistake of looking for a product first, and a market second.


To boost your chances of success, start with a market. The trick is to find a group of people who are searching for a solution to a problem, but not finding many results. The internet makes this kind of market research easy 


  • Visit online forums to see what questions people ask and what problems they're trying to solve.
  • Do keyword research to find keywords that a lot of people are searching, but for which not many sites are competing.
  • Check out your potential competitors by visiting their sites and taking note of what they're doing to fill the demand. Then you can use what you've learned and create a product for a market that already exists--and do it better than the competition.

My take is that people that do busy work are missing one main ingredient and that is education, no matter what profession you choose you still need to learn the basics and most importantly continue learning if you want to make a success, but quite a few people treat working online as just switching on their pc's
