How often do you yourself click on banners that grab your attention?

I'm guessing the answer is quite a lot?

I use banners everywhere... And whenever possible I like to promote landing pages that I know have my own banner on them...

Banners can be far more effective than text ads... You just need to be a little creative

If I sign up for a new program and they are giving away some banners ad credits - I'll use them up.  Do I click on banners? NO !  I think it's a waste of time.  I spend my credits on advertising my real URL.

I don't click on banners for credits either, but I'm always looking for new ways to drive traffic to my sites, so if a banner catches my eye, offering a great traffic deal, I'll click on it.

And that is the thing... Scattering eyecatching, attention-grabbing banners all over various sites can help you attract new visitors to your main URL who are not necessarliy actively searching for your site.

You'll see people doing it right here on Marketing Checkpoint... People don't get credits for clicking on the banners, but they click anyway for the info and services offered

Banners are a good source of easy free traffic if you join banner exchanges and know how to earn a lot of credits without doing any extra work to get them. As for buying banner ads....I would not recommend that you buy impressions but instead pay for clicks on your banner.

Banners still work but you will have to litter the town paste them up everywhere all over town so people can see them and respond to your ad.

Placing banners on only just a few sites will not do as only a few people will see them and with the engagement rate for banner notoriously low

you need to get them on every site you possibly can.

Most viral mailers offer banner advertising so all you need to to send out your advertising in numbers with an emphasis on banners placed on login pages

and members area pages since these perform way better than any other position on these websites.

Yes, I use those free credits too but I always click on interesting and creative banners, not for credits but to get info about the program.

Thanks for reply and tip about buying banner ads.

You'll never know the true effectiveness of your banners unless

you are tracking them. I do use banners...everywhere, and I

also track them. I see no problem in using standard banners

but when I create my own I like to use free software called Canva.

Yes I agree , tracking is important.

Thanks for reply !

Banners from big PTC sires are effective I think.

I was a member of The Bux  when it was #1 on EMS topsite and had invested $100 in the site with highest upgrade and referrers.

I was making all kinds of money but the guy wasn't paying. But I used the money to buy banners with. He was having these sales

on 1 million banners to help him save his site.

I was buying these and they would run out in 3 or 4 days and I would get 30 or more signups.

I was happy with that but I think his referrers were bots and he thought he could help his site more if they stopped clicking.

if you can get a non incentivized click on a banner of like 1 per 100 impressions I would say that is good. On my traffic exchange

it is non incentivized to click on the banners and text links and I get a bunch of clicks on them.

The rate is at least 1 click per 100 impressions so I am happy with that.

On my local bus stop, there is an ad for a McDonald's burger meal deal. I'm not there to eat, I'm there to catch a bus, and there isn't a McDonald's outlet in site, though you can be sure there is one nearby :-)  I believe in banners, and use them as much as possible in places that I advertise my sites heavily in. Even if they don't get clicks, they reinforce your product or message. And the same for text ads.

I don't know how effective banners are, but  if they are effective,  I wonder if  the 125 x 125 are more effective than the 468 x 60 size?

I think how effective banners are is very dependent upon where they are placed. If I'm surfing a dozen traffic exchanges at once I can guarantee I'm missing the vast majority of the banner ads... but when I'm on this forum, for example, it's a completely different matter!

It's all about placement.

One thing I have noticed with a few TE's is that they are offering a few credits to click on banners. Not all the time mind you, there is usually a small message that announces which ones are offered credits. I don't really know the value of this, but it can generate some interest in your site/product. On the other hand, if it was not there, nothing would be gained.

I couldn't agree with you more, miss.

To me, the primary focus for banner advertising is to brand; even if it's to just "jam" a logo or tagline in your face.

In regards to your MCDs example, as a company they are already established. In fact, they can probably stop advertising for the next decade and still generate revenue. They hold a CHUNK of the global fast food market share. They still, however, deem it necessary to remind the public of their existence.

Online banners have the same effect. You may not be relying on them for conversions, but the impression you leave on the public.

They work! I know they do because I look at them.
