Read and re-read the program you have joined.  That way you can answer the questions that your new people have.

If I could only give one piece of advice to a new marketer it would be this:  "Approach everything with a healthy level of skepticism and by all means test new things for free before you spend any money"

My advice is to stop chasing shiny objects and focus on your main offer. Many affiliates join a new opportunity every other day and then multitasking to promote all, will most likely crash down because it becomes to much and non of them will be working out, because the affiliates are not promoting enough their offers.

So, stick with what you got and dont give up on it. :)

If you pick a particular niche, stick to it. Add value first and avoid spamming at all costs. Never give up, Affiliate Marketing is no get rich quick scheme.

Like one forum member said previously, get training first. Get good comprehensive training, not just learn one piece on info from here and another piece from there.Other thing is to check out what other successful affiliates are doing and learn from it. A lot of them have their own popular high-traffic website/blog they use for promoting offers. That is less risky way to make sales than media buying. If you have already a certain skill level and enough of money, then you may try out paid advertsing.

Also invest time in proper market research. There's no point in promoting the highest-quality products if no one is searching for them. And when you write reviews, write about the good AND the bad. That convinces the customers of your honesty.

Narrow down your focus and promote just one business opportunity, otherwise you'll constantly get distracted with new opportunities and spin your wheels, never getting anywhere!

I fully agree.

Only 2 things required for online success

  1. A reliable business
  2. Effective Promotion

A Reliable Business.

More than 90% of the business sites that come up closes down in less than 3 years on some pretext or the other. Losing money can be tolerated but TIME?  You can never get back lost time.

Don't get lured by the shining ads. Find a business that works and will not dump you. Do your best to get success and just DON'T QUIT.

Once you get good success then only look for diversification.

Effective Promotion

It includes What to advertise, how and where to advertise, tracking results of your ads, follow up, closing sale, team building, list building, duplication and many more aspects. This requires efforts to learn using of marketing tools, finding good traffic resources and learning some good communication skills.

The most important thing is consistence.

In order to succeed with any Affiliate platform, first, find a program that you trust, one that you can commit to, and then stick with it. Hopping around from one program to another will never earn any lasting success. But if you’re committed to one, good, solid, highly-rated program, (research it before you commit), you’ll be able to become knowledgeable, and increasingly effective in marketing and recruiting!

This soon will turn into leveraged income. Building a business takes time. So, stick with it in order to see cash-results.

If possible, before joining a program search the internet for comments about it.
Join a good group of people who help each other.
Always use a landingpage when advertising.

If available, join a couple of webinars about a program. There you can learn if the program is for you or not.

Don't put all your money into one program, spread the risk.

Try to do as much as you can with free money (faucets, ptc's etc.) before putting money out of pocket in a program.

Ask questions to your upline (when already in a program) to see if they answer.

If no upline, ask questions to admin of program to see if you get an answer.

Always reed the FAQ of a program.

Do not jump from program to program.

Don't expect to get rich overnight.

This is such a great thread. It will surely help a lot of people, thank you for this. I'll just add this here, because it can become a constant battle and huge time waster if you don't. Start and stay organized, in your pc, your browser and especially in your email inbox/es. Clean your files, bookmarks, emails up often.

My primary advice to a new affiliate marketer is to focus your advertising for the purposes of lead generation. Also, to develop a resilient (yet flexible) mentality. Mistakes can be discouraging and education evolves. Besides, most likely success will not occur overnight.

Take your time & research the opportunity before you spend any money with it. Look for an opportunity that will hold your interest. But you have to be motivated to build a business, not merely to join something that promises to do the work for you. Nothing easy is worthwhile or lasting.
