It is important SEO today?

A couple of things note: Google's new rules have two major "must haves" this time around. It must have videos and must be mobile friendly. I don't know about the rest, but I have had to guess at the rest for some time. As I mentioned in a previous post, they keep changing the rules and negating previous SEO work done. One thing I did learn seems to be the ideas of keyword saturation is now a big no-no. I'm not sure where I read this, but, I think it came from a newsletter I get where they do alot of articles about Google and their latest rampages. Just thought I would share this.

Not to show my ignorance (at least not too much...) but I thought Google hated PBNs and was de-indexing them and banning accounts because of them. I also thought they were considered "black hat" now.

Actually today as we speak the focus should be on site activity i.e what are users doing when they reach your site so it's about engagement and social signals coming from those who actually use your site.

Also how well are mobile users engaging your content as 85% percent of internet users nowadays log on to the world wide web using none other than their mobile phones so user compatibility with mobile users engaging your content is very high on Google's visibility agenda for all websites. More on this....

This is what I have been reading about the past few months as far as using SEO for site rankings. From what I gather it all has to do with "Bounce Rate". A site with a lot of traffic and a high bounce rate will not rank as high as a low traffic site with low bounce rate. It all has to do with how long people stay on your site. Bounce Rate is someone coming to your site and leaving immediately. To Google a high bounce rate means "Nothing here worth seeing - move along" and they rank the site lower. So if there is nothing on your site people will stay to consume or share, you will not get any Google lovin'

One thing I learned from the last major update was this: Your site needs to be mobile friendly and have some video on it. There was a document that came out that outlined all of the updates and what they meant for website owners. The two I mentioned seemed to be the most critical. I wouldn't spend alot of time or money on this as Google seems to change it. I have also seen many who spent thousands on trying to keep up with the changes. All they wound up with is frustration.
