As far as Countdown Timers go, shouldn't they countdown from when you click on it rather than when EVERYTHING loads?  And, shouldn't they last only as long as they say, despite whatever else is going on? And what about the timers as far as the Server Clocks.  Shouldn't they go back to zero at THE STATED time?  Why do we have to wait sometimes twice the timer for something to load and shouldn't we be able to trust the site to switch over to zero at EXACTLY the specified time?  What do YOU think??

I know how frustrating that can be.  That is why I always have two sites running.  If one is taking too long to finish, I switch to the other site.  I find that this is a simple solution.

I agree, at least on my end, I want the timer to start when the site loads so my ad is seen and I get the most from my credits. I do see a problem with many counters though that seem to "stick" while a video or other animation is playing even after the site is completely loaded. I now it is the video or animation since if I click the video to stop it playing, the counter starts again.

One thing that does get annoying is in some safelists and TEs, I get a "Must have Javascript enabled" or "You must have cookies enabled" pop up that stops the whole browser until you click on it when I do have Javascript and cookies enabled. It only happens in certain safelists and TEs while others with the same ad it doesn't happen. Not sure if it is a browser security setting or what it is but it is annoying. I am also not sure why it only happens in certain ones and not others unless it is also something in the site setting themselves to not allow any pop ups.

I have even seen some sites had a message that basically said, "You don't have X enabled, sorry for your luck". Which tells me the site owner cares more for some whiz bang bell and whistle on their site than for people to actually see the site. I don't know why people think this way and it doesn't make sense to have a site that won't work for everyone. Why exclude people who could be customers just to have some feature on your site?

I guess it goes back to being a conscientious advertiser and not putting slow loading, high resource, auto play video, or other such type of sites on a TE or safelist.

Timer should start after the sites loaded as it is time to watch the ad (ex: 5 sec timer mean 5 sec watch the ads).

However some sites load longer than the timer itself, so a loading time out should be in place. Maybe clixsense timer is a good one for my example.

So, as an advertiser, a fast loading splash page is preferred.

Timers should start when the ad is loaded. That said, ads should not take more than a second to load. Slow loading sites, any Wix sites, audio and video should be banned if they can't load within the 1 second allowed. And any timer longer than 8 seconds is defeating the purpose - I will jump to a different site while the slow timer runs and won't pay as much attention to the ad.

I think the timer has more to do with your browser. I seem to remember this issue some time ago as I ran into an issue where the timer was not counting down to zero. It would hang up at 1 and never finish. Though it could have been the site too. Someone once told me that the timer issue is in the browser. the browser waits for the site to load before allowing the timer to count down. I have seen this a few times when objercts on the site will not load or is slow to do so.

You would think with the advanced technology in scripts and browsers something like a timer would be able to function as it should, i.e. the ad comes up as the timers starts...that way the viewer sees the ad and the person who places the ad has their ads seen...fair for all
