I just joined Herculist as a paid member

Upgraded there as well but not really sure if its worth it yet not really picking up to many sign ups. The yearly cost is not to bad but out of 61,000 members you would expect to get a few more hits. What about anyone else have you been tracking and what results are you getting from this company?

Thanks for letting us know Maria. Please do share anything that has better results. I think in safelist mailing it's a mostly hit and run scenario where free members join, click links to get points. Then get tired of clicking and abandon that one and move on to the next safelist mailer. (I know I've done the same) the only two I've ever paid for so far in starting all this is State of the Art Mailer and Herculist...

Oddly enough, I am getting huge clickthrough at a very unexpected site where I took the lifetime upgrade, which I think I got for around $20 for so. It's called Galaxy Mailz and my clickthrough rate has been very high, so far. Though it seems that as the membership grows the clickthrough rate is going down. My chart is below. Here is a link to Galaxy: http://trck.me/192904 and I'm also getting very good clickthrough rates at Puffin Mailer (Dan Moses) http://trck.me/192905. The three sites I hear about being super responsive, over & over again are List Joe, Bweeble & List Nerds... and as a free member at those sites, I've had a pretty good response as well, but their upgrades are still a little too steep for me, at this stage of the game...

Oh then, looking at your click rates, I can see that I'm in the same ball game on my own stats... I also like Puffin, List Joe and may "hit and run" at Bweeble again LOL!

Thanks for sharing. I do believe it's the the phenomena of being new, get good response then it slows because it's too much clicking for free members and they get discouraged and move on... I also thing a catchy subject line is the ultimate in grabbing that initial decision to click you are not. Once they are getting credits for viewing your add a person better have something pretty clear and concise to join... Then there's the turning them into paying members that depends on the type of people you advertise to... sigh...

Bingo, Robert! I agree with everything you just said. It does seem that, no matter what, if it's a new site that is very actively recruiting new members, it's a good bet it will be responsive for a while. And that's next on my to-do list, learning how to catch someones attention with my subject line, reel them in & convert them :)

I didn't join Herculist as a paid member, although

I reap benefits close to a paid members benefits.

My choice was to grab a paid membership into HookListMail.

This allowed me to gain credits at Herculist easily, and

gives me a weekly blast out to Herculist members.

The main benefit of HookList, is that it was a lifetime upgrade,

and I gravitate twoards those, because yearly fees add up after time.

This also has a free membership, but I do not think that

Herculist is included in the free section.

I would also suggest HookListMail to anyone who is a TE lover,

as it allows people to surf safelists, just like a TE. I have

found that I can read MANY more mails per hour using the HookList

method, rather than just reading mails through gmail. It is not

for everyone, but I have found it to be an exceptional tool.

As for the results of Herculist, I have to agree with Sean.

I have not gotten many signups from this list.

Yea what Maria said, new sites always react the best because the information is always so recent, as they age some choose to keep the list pruned (I block email addresses after just 1 bounce or 30 days of unopening) while others just let everyone on so they can have a big number to put on their sales page..

...this isn't to say the new one is always better, many are years old and have excellent results, but one thing you can almost always be certain from a new one is active email addresses

I approach mailers like solo ads. If an upgrade cost $10 I expect to get 7-8 sign ups. 10 sign ups or more for $10 is a steal. 2 signups for $10 or $5 per lead is a no-no. Results vary a lot so sometimes I use an average like X amount of signups for x mailer upgrade budget and re-balance by downgrading the ones that are not performing as expected and upgrading the ones that are giving me good results as a free member. OTOs also affect results. At regular price you may find yourself paying $3 per lead when you could have been paying $1 per lead if you had taken the OTO.

Just my 2 cents..

Sorry, I have to reply with my actual experience, here... re: Herculist. You say 'I reap benefits close to a paid member' ??? I am a Pro member, and I get to BLAST to 60,000+ members every single day. My clicks are credited at the Pro level, and those clicking on my links in my ads know they are receiving more credit for clicking on the link of a Pro member. Your own 'weekly blast', as a free member, only goes to a token 700 members! Besides that, I brought in two pro members which COVERED my cost for my Pro membership making it FREE. Reaping close to paid members benefits?? Look again!

Thanks for the hint about new safelists, Maria. I will look out for them. I have been a pro member of Herculist for a while but have been disappointed by the response.

I am thinking of running some give-aways as an incentive for people to subscribe to my website newsletter and was wondering if this sort of thing may go down better than advertising affiliate programs on safelists?

Interesting thread, I joined Herculist a couple of years ago and have not really used it the way I should be, I suppose this is the main issue with a lot of mailers and members. I have forgotten about a lot of the mailers I signed up to. I may go back and give this one a try.
