Do Product Reviews actually work for affiliate marketers?

Recommended Posts

Hello,  So recently I passed the 1 year mark since I started with affiliate marketing.  I have definitely learned a whole lot since January 2020 but still I am not really seeing the results I would like.   My first month I made a good few sales but it's kind of weird only had maybe 2 or 3 since.  I have written almost 60 posts on my site now - both reviews and articles but nothing seems to be converting.

I don't understand.  Even on Clickbank the other week it was showing that I made 2k sales one day and then I refreshed the data just disappeared.  I wonder if my affiliate links are even working sometimes because I just don't get it.  I am getting maybe 5-6k impressions a month but I wonder what I am doing wrong to not get any conversions at all.

Hey there, I'm wondering if these 5-6k impressions per day are from blog posts or other marketing? It would be important to know exactly where these users are finding your link and clicking. If you are getting that many views from your blog then you must have a very popular blog?

I have found success by investing a small amount in Google ads. Five bucks a day got me at least one sale a week with my Shopify store. I also got hits investing a little in FB ads. But free ads are different. I got a few conversions using traffic exchanges, but I used thousands of credits for just a few conversions.

Earning cash from home with Affiliate marketing & the wellness industry, I also enjoy "making music" with vocals & keys to uplift & encourage! Hopeisfree!

Like Darren wrote in his reply; the type of visitor traffic coming to blog is important.

There are also other factors. Here are a few but there are many more...

1. The quality of your reviews. Blind reviews or do you purchase the products you

are reviewing?

2.The type of marketing you are doing (ie; Email List, Viral Mailers (safelists),

Traffic Exchange, Google Ads, Bing Ads, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

3. Consistently working on SEO (search engine optimization) for your blog?

4. The market niche you are serving.

Additionally, if your Clickbank account indicated that you had $2k in sales, and

it disappeared, you should definitely contact Clickbank to learn more about the

problem.

Even with your scant results, you are still doing better than 80%-90% of marketers

with one year experience. So congrats on that.

For those of us who blog or have content-rich websites should know or experience the difficulty of getting traffic from search engines. A traffic study by ahrefblog in March 2020 stated that 90.63% of content gets no traffic from Google.

To be successful, it helps to "Know your numbers." How many click throughs (CTR) does it take to make one sale? How many website impressions does it take to get a click to a page?

A Search Engine Journal post stated that over 50% of local business websites receive less than 500 visits per month.

Bottom line: If you are going to focus on organic traffic, your content (articles, blog posts) needs to match search intent as well as indexed by the search engines. (typical SEO stuff).

Example: My Prosperity Marketing System review article is #5 on the 1st page of Google for the search term prosperity marketing system review.  This search term gets about 5 visitors a month from Google search traffic.

Hi,  Guys thanks for your input.  Since writing this one thing has become apparent about my methods.  Mostly, that I have been targeting the wrong kinds of keywords.  I have now begun the process of sifting through my old posts and adding new keywords in here and there which match the criteria better.  I've also learnt a couple of other tricks.  I'm yet to see the results but I'm hoping a couple of things will show in my data soon.

I've started using a couple new tools - SEMrush and Ubersuggest.  This has opened my eyes to a couple things as well so hopefully my next commission is only around the corner.

PS:  I see a couple of people were keen to seek answers if anyone is on Wealthy Affiliate I highly recommend this training on Jaaxy Keyword Research tool;

This has been the main eye opener for me in regards to choosing the right keywords.

I use Ubersuggest and SEMrush as well as Keywords Everywhere. I no longer use Jaaxy (I had the Enterprise edition) because of the limited number of keywords returned. I don't know if WA has increased the number of results returned or not.

Product reviews are a form of content that affiliate marketers can't afford to dismiss, regardless of your niche. Not only are they valuable to your readers, they can also benefit you and your affiliate business immensely. What's more, perfecting them will likely see your conversion rates soar.
