  1. For on-site analytics/tracking, Google Analytics covers and exceeds all needs that I've had, though as Sean pointed out, can take a bit of a learning curve to understand. For basic data, however, it's not too challenging to grasp early on.
  2. Personally I have very little experience with Aweber and most experience with GetResponse. Functionality wise I believe they are very close to the same and, in most cases, each will cover the needs we all have. The extra goodies that aren't "needed" are additional in my eyes. But, probably like most here, I don't need most of the functions. Cost wise I do believe GetResponse is lower. When you have tens of thousands of subscribers, the cost can certainly add up either way. As long as deliverability is normal or better, the necessary functions are at my finger tips and I'm not spending more than required, I'm a happy camper (generally).
  3. That is one hefty post, John. You make some very good points. The mention of mobile use is interesting. I have questioned whether it would be worthwhile trying to be mobile friendly, but it seems you have the answer. And to that, it makes sense. You may get surfers but nobody is going to try to navigate a page, fill out a form, or anything too time consuming.
  4. Hi there, Milind, The only one I received was regarding appending links. But, I also never got your reply. There was a problem with my support email which has been resolved as of a couple hours ago. Would you mind sending in your questions again? Yes, we are working to get Paypal added but don't have it working 100% yet. Hit/clicks are simply how many visitors to your affiliate URL you've received. It does not denote signups.
  5. John, you make a great point. Without a bunch of mailers you wouldn't have any reasonable way of comparing services from one mailer against another. Plus, to know if your campaign is doing well, advertising in multiple places at once and comparing results, again, is the effective way to decide which services are worth the time/money. Of course if you are looking for specific results, that plays a factor as well.
  6. @David - Glad to hear. Keep it up! @Dan - Nice to see you here, buddy. That's a reasonable decision and honest. The challenge and risk is the ability to maintain that income. Most people CAN make money outside their job but few can continue that pattern regularly.
  7. Haha, this is funny. If anyone "follows" me, they'd be crazy. I don't know if anyone can follow me without getting lost! Though since Darren and I work together quite a bit, by following Darren...you're kind of following me, just not in the literal sense.
  8. Let's be honest, we all want to make money, and more of it. Very few people would turn down more money if it was handed to them. When creating products/services, how much research (if any) do you put in to come up with your pricing structure? It may seem a bit vague since there are MANY types of pricing structures possible from single cost, to monthly, to annual, to variable...but, I'd love to hear what others consider.

  13. Great topic! Buying traffic can certainly be a risk if you're new (even seasoned) but with proper planning and sensible purchases, it can pay off. Of course there are many variables that must be taken in to consideration when evaluating the effectiveness of that purchased traffic. The guarantee of traffic from a purchase is certainly a good thing though, of course, more risky since it is an investment (and most people want to earn that investment back). I like to rely SOME of my efforts through purchased traffic, but certainly not the majority.
  14. I'm really interested to hear how others value the decision of going full-time, self-employed. Obviously doing so can be a very big deal especially when it comes to online. What qualifications in your business are required before you make that jump? Is there a revenue number (not that we need to know the actual number) to get you there? Is it a steady business over a certain number of months or years?
  15. Very interesting discussion. I began reading without realizing how many replies there were here. All I'm going to say is that I firmly believe in innovation. Can mailers continue to flourish? I'd say yes, BUT they can't be the same mailer that everyone uses. We MUST attract new eyes, not just the same people using the same 100+ mailers.

  17. Do you wonder if traffic exchanges will be around in 5 years? Where will they be in 3 years? I think there's a big gap between those who survive the technology crunch and those who fall in to the abyss of outdated, broken functionality. Society is becoming very affixed to mobile, fast, on-the-go technology that will crush those who lack to try keeping up. Anyone care to discuss?
