Darren Olander Posted January 28, 2015 Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 It's basically just someone seeing the same ad/link more than once.. so in a TE it is your page being displayed to users more than once, or in a mailer they maybe clicked on your link to visit your site more than once. According to who is saying it, Unique hits can also have time-limits or not.. so for example if it is daily unique visitors then if a person views your site today and also tomorrow those would both be counted as unique. Guest MarketingYouControl Posted January 28, 2015 Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 Steve Jones - you can exactly tell where clicks and visits are coming from:hits are not visitors - hits are the most inaccurate data you can get.What you want to know is how many unique visitors you got.And: you might want to redirect the SAME unique visitor if they come TWICE or more often to you link to ANOTHER DESTINATION. Yes, that is possible, if you use the right tracking. This form of tracking will also protect you against fakevisitors and "hits" that have been generated by botsand software with no human being behind it (and youdo not have to wonder why no signups or sales arecoming your way out of those!).Hope this helps! Time-Limits are a real pain - that is why I recommend people to track their links based on the IPaddress of their visitors and do decidewhat to do with your visitors if they have visited your links before. A lot of people are wasting their resources because they show the samecontent over and over to the VERY same person. The person did not sign up in the first place - so better show them a different webpageto increase your changes to get a signup or a sale from them. This can be only achieved if you use a somewhat intelligent solution that is not some lame old free "linktracker" from beyond the gravebefore 2008 or worse. Julius C Posted February 17, 2015 Report Share Posted February 17, 2015 You can also get a lot of information by logging into the cPanel of your website and looking at the AWStats or other tools in the cPanel area. It will not only give you unique visitors, but where they're coming from, how long visitors are on your site, what browsers are being used, what search engines people used to find your site, what keywords were used, etc. If you have access to your cPanel, you have access to a lot of information. Unique visitors, depending on your definition, can vary. Google Analytics typically calls a unique visitor someone who visits your website/page once in a 24 hour period. Tracking can help break this down automatically if you pay attention to such details. As mentioned, AWstats (inside cPanel) can give you some basics, but Google Analytics does a much better job detailing your visitors, repeat visitors, page views, and more. Quote Hustle. It doesn't give you a ton of information, but as long as the hits aren't registering as "other" than I think it's ok. Who knows where the "other" traffic is coming from lol.
