market101
I don't know yet, but I'm going to find out. I joined TennerList yesterday and I already have a few paid members. We'll see. Darren Olander
Unless the pro mailer is able to get in a ton of new people consistently, which is extremely rare, I'd much rather advertise at a mailer that supports both free and paid members. Just because someone is a free member doesn't mean they won't spend money on something Jasond188 1 Quote Founder of Marketing CheckpointMy Blog
market101
Just because someone is a free member doesn't mean they won't spend money on something That's true. But it doesn't mean they will spend either. At least you know the paid member spends sometimes. market101
BTW, I was thinking about all the times in the past that I joined something and got caught up in the hype, upgraded, sponsored a bunch of people and then payday never came - just excuses. So, I emailed the owner at TennerList. They pay every 30 days. I told him I wanted to be paid ASAP so I could tell my downline "it really works". Within a few hours the money was in my paypal acct. Garrett Hutsko
I belong to a few Safelists where they claim they will pay when you reach 10+ sponsored and $35+ commission. They have put on hold paying per their promised commission structure. I get a lot of mail coverage from them and response from my promos but no promised commission. I could list them here but other than that don't know what I should do, I would think that if they need to make changes in the way they pay commissions that they would put up an announcement regarding this, instead of a brief note that they can't pay due to funding, something/anything such that I wouldn't keep trying to get my commission paid. I can be reasonable if I know up front but this current process is .very questionable.I am holding back the name of these sites but am interested in suggestions especially for these admins to hear. Garrett Hutsko
I hope for you that they really pay Garett.I do wonder is good or not. One thing on the plus side is that they do respond to my queries. The also have paid in the past. I think they have stressed out to far and need to pull back so they can meet their commitments. This is an organization who has a large number of Safelists and Traffic Exchanges. I just want to get my returns asap.

oldbuddy
Exactly, but we are talking about PAID safelists specifically. You pay first, then you get X number of others to pay and yours is free, then as you continue it produces a profit, but the safelist part is the same as it always has been paid or not. The safelist part of Marketing Checkpoint works the same way, but this forum makes the difference and it's free (unless you want to upgrade). A Ponzi scheme is when you pay and the way you justify that is you get others to pay or you don't make any money. The only profit comes from getting someone else to pay just like you did. Kenny Kolijn
I agree with what Darren said. Also, just because someone pays a low amount to join, doesn't mean they are a better 'lead' for all of us who want to advertise. With most paid-only sites that I've joined, I saw that they are either dead pretty soon or really inactive because they struggle to bring in (enough) new members every day. With any safelist, members get inactive and if you're not replacing them with new people, activity goes down and in the end you're just advertising to the same small group of people. The owners struggle to make them grow, the existing members start to notice it and before you know it even those who paid aren't using the same as often anymore. Almost all programs are made this way and in almost all the case someone has to buy something for you to make money unless it's paid to click. This is not Ponzi scheme. market101
To me, a ponzi scheme is when people have to pay a monthly fee to remain active and the owner/originator takes some of the $ and pays out commissions. The recipients do not get anything for their $ except the possibility of earning more $. I know there are other types of schemes. If I remember correctly, this discussion started out about TennerList. So far, it's viable and growing. There is a free 7-day trial period. There was a 1-time pmt. for those who wish to upgrade. The full pmt goes to the sponsor. People are allowed to advertise to other members. I don't know how long this list will last. None of us does. We all know that there are a huge number of schemes out there. We try to pick programs that seem honest and have little or no risk. As long as TennerList continues to pay me, I will continue to advertise it. Jasond188 1 Quote *************************************************************There are two ways to face the future. jamesvest
I think ther's room for both free and pro mailers. Although, pro mailers don't grow as fast as free. I belong to a couple of pro mailers and earned commissions from both.
Garrett Hutsko
I like free over paid. In the free SLs I get to try out the mailer and watch for results. When the results look good to great then I move forward and upgrade. I for the most part have found this to be well worth my efforts, it forces the site to try to stand out and makae itself worth more than other sites. I have seen some SLs grow quickly when this process is encouraged. I am in a few SLs where my downline is decent and I have made some return on my investment, these are where I feel comfortable investing my time and money. This strategy is what I feel to be the best to follow. Steve Shapiro
I have noticed no difference between sites that make you pay a couple of dollars to join or free sites, in terms of the quality of the people who you mail to.The only discernable difference I've seen is the number of members who you can mail to. In sites where you can become active for free, there can be thousands of members. In "paid only" sites there will be substantially less because it will eliminate the tire kickers and people who have no intention of spending any money, no matter what. In either case, I find that these sites generally become stagnant shortly after launch, which is when most of the membership joins. Once their initial credits are used up, they leave and move on to the next launch to join. It's a pattern that I've seen over and over and over again
