i think the primary reason they were abandoned is either they were overwhelm at the speed of their growth, never updated their payment or members got tired of the same people they are sending out their ads.

that was one con and mistake of buying existing website yes they do boost membership but the new owner does not share the same enthusiasm and principles as the old owner have.
candy-coated-mailz passed away in a short time after it was purchased!!!
