  1. Not so curious where they live. More concerned with their 'track record' and whether or not this is their 1st venture. One more thing - is their affiliate program growing? Just thought of one more thing. Does the admin, or someone on their staff, respond to your questions?
  2. I have been going for 20 years and have reached the conclusion that 10 hrs + is w.......ay too much. There is a life away from the internet! I spend 1-2 hrs/day and I call that being addicted. I am retired and the kids are gone. I hope no one is spending that kind of time on there CPU if they have little kids. If you are doing this for fun and using it instead of TV time or reading or eating (hmmm there's an interesting concept), then I believe you are doing fine. But, 10 hrs !@#$%. That's way over the top; especially if you are losing $. Webmasters and persons who own their own sites, put in whatever amount of time is necessary to maintain they're sites and keep them growing. That makes sense. (Do you feel a "but" coming?). But, for those of you who are just doing affiliate programs - READ MY 1 - PAGE BLOG. BTW, I enjoy affiliate programs, but, READ MY 1 - PAGE BLOG. Read it several times and print it out or save it somewhere - you can thank me later http://sensible-marketing.blogspot.com/
  3. Gomer's got it right. Most of us are sick and tired of receiving emails every day from the same advertiser. Many of you have a list. I hope you are not wearing them out by over-doing it with your ads. I have a private list called the "ACTIVE PLAYERS" List. I promise all the members when they sign up, that I will not send more than 1 email per month and I KEEP MY PROMISE! It is very rare that anyone leaves this list. Of course it helps to have good content
  4. Way to go Joel. I always insert an image on sites that allow color + an image. Like you, my eyes are drawn toward the image 1st. I'm guessing most people are like that.
  5. That's not a bad idea, except for one thing - many sites do not allow links within the 'body' of your ad. So, please be careful to follow that rule before you press the send button.
  6. I tried 4 different browsers. No luck. Sorry.
  7. This may surprise some people, but hypnotherapy is another way of helping someone overcome their shyness.
  8. I came across an unusual site 4 days ago. The owner Jeremy Schoemaker claims to have made over 10 Million dollars. Usually I just del and move on. He doesn't want any money! Yeh. Right. But I watched a few videos that were intriguing. I went on the net and researched this guy. He seems to be the real deal. I joined for free. Sponsored a few people and got paid immediately. Of course I am still skeptical. Here's my question. Have any of you heard of this guy or had any dealings with him in the past? Here is the site in question: http://shoemoney.net/r/38464 Thanks, Martin
  9. I have Win7 on all 3 of my computers and am very happy with it. I see no reason to change just because a new version is available. Win7 does more than I need it to do. BTW, I just put in a new Samsung SSD 850 Pro (solid state drive) in this computer. Very fast! It works with bubbles ??? I do not understand this concept. Speed definitely makes a difference for those of you who spend a lot of time on the 'net'.
  10. Most people are involved in some of the following activities to build their affiliate programs. 1. Safe Lists & Opt-In Lists. 2. Surfing sites & Classifieds. 3. Viral & rotator ads. 4. TEs (Traffic Exchanges) 5. Leads - you have to purchase these. 6. Blogs - very time consuming, but they work to some degree. 7. Bulk Email - where you pay someone and your ad goes on their server. And then there is bulk email stealth software that goes on your computer, but I think it is illegal in quite a few states and spam is never a good idea. 8. HYIPs - for those who want fast returns without doing anything - you know - so called passive income. HYIP stands for high-yield investment programs and the people who get involved with these are high-risk gamblers. Most of these fall apart in time and the majority of the investors lose everything. A few people get out with their profit before the thing collapses. How did they know when to get out? hmmm.
  11. I wonder how many people take the time to send their ads in color on sites that allow HTML? Marketing Checkpoint is very easy. Everything you need is already here. I always take the few seconds that it takes to send in color and even ad a picture. There is no doubt that your recipients eyes are drawn more easily to color ads than black & white. What say you? http://emotions-are-stronger-than-intellect.blogspot.com
  12. I know how frustrating that can be. That is why I always have two sites running. If one is taking too long to finish, I switch to the other site. I find that this is a simple solution.
  13. That is a definite problem for many people. No $ for advertising. Of course the banks are not lending for internet marketing biz. They prefer brick & mortar - which should tell you something. The banks believe that starting an internet business is very risky. And I think they are right. See my one page blog on that very subject. http://sensible-marketing.blogspot.com/ So, if you have $ to get started, you hire experts to help you do it right. If your funds are almost non-existent, you join some affiliate programs, make a few bucks, get a feel for what other people are doing, but don't get sucked into all the hype. You are not going to be a millionaire over night and you are not going to be rich investing 1 dollar in the next "most exciting - never been done before - greatest thing you've ever seen , etc, etc. You know what I mean. Use common sense and be aware that there is an excessive amount of hype on the internet.
  14. I agree with your definition. "To me a TRUE co op would be a funded source a pool of money which each person buys into each month. Then that pool of money is used to buy advertising at any number of sites and then used to send traffic. Instead of it being credit based everyone in the pool now gets an even share of the advertising that was bought." However, I have had several bad experiences with co-ops. The 3 that I joined, promised major advertising and sharing of all new members. I have no way of knowing how many replied to the ads, but I do know that my equal share, was far below what I would normally have obtained just advertising for myself. That was several years ago and I have not fallen into that trap since.
  15. Then there is always the thing that most of us do, but don't want to talk about. Whether it is TE's, surfing or safelists....... I'm talking about clicking on 2-3 sites at the same time in different windows. Of course you don't do that! Or do you?
  16. I'm with you. I don't like pop-ups at all. I would love to go directly to the site I am expecting to see. I do understand that the admin an advertisers want to maximize their ROI.
  17. Kari, Bruce, & John, We all have to remember that now that there is a "worldwide Web', we should be aware that there are people from all over the world who are interacting. Many of these people are doing the best that they can using English as a 2nd language. I think we should cut everyone a little slack. After all, the important thing is to be able to converse with each other. If you get the general idea from the other person, then who cares if the sentence structure is grammatically perfect. Regards to all, Martin
  18. It depends whether you are considering advertising an existing business or whether you are choosing to join someone who already owns an existing online business. Lets deal with the easiest of the two for now. That would be joining an existing program. For a quick synopsis, take a peek at one of the best articles I have ever written on this subject. http://sensible-marketing.blogspot.com/ Prosperous regards, Martin
  19. I like email marketing because it is inexpensive ( mostly free). What's not to like? I have a large list and the majority of people do not want to spend more than a few dollars.
  20. My grammar is usually better than most. Alright, not 100%. My wife and I are always amazed at the simple mistakes that we hear on radio and TV. The mistakes are not only from newscasters, but you hear them from persons in all walks of life; teachers, doctors and the persons who represent us in congress. I find it interesting that persons in the 60 to 70 age group seem to have learned more in high school than today's college grads. Now that I am a senior, I have reached a point in my life where I am more forgiving of others mistakes. I keep reminding myself that not everyone is fortunate enough to go to college. I think of all the people I know, who had to take care of sick parents or had to raise their siblings because their parents died at a young age. Maybe they had to work two jobs to take care of their family and had no time to go to school. That doesn't mean that they are stupid. There are lots of smart people who had no formal education. One does not have to be a college grad to be successful. I have a good friend who never had a formal education, but he owns a business and employs a lot of people. I'll get off of my soap box now. Just want to close by saying the following: I believe that although first impressions are important, there are a few attributes that are more important - honesty, integrity and how you treat other people. A famous person once said, "People don't care how much you know. They really want to know how much you care". O.K. I'm done. Some of you may have noticed that I used the words 'persons' and 'people' as if they were interchangeable. They are not. Do you know the difference? P.S. Great forum!
  21. I forgot about AdsSurdDaily. I think you're right. Thanks for the heads up .....
  22. Since I am a free member, I love it. Martin
  23. I disagree. There are too many programs that are just hype and don't even last 6 months. So here you've invested all of your online/advertising time with one program and after 6 months it's gone. The admin doesn't answer your emails and your URL doesn't work any more and you're very frustrated. The one program that you have chosen was a flop. Hey - not your fault. It really looked good! But, that was 6 months wasted! I prefer to work with several programs at one time. Even as many as 5 (I know some of you advertise more programs than that). As long as people are joining, I stick with those programs. If one is working better than the others, that becomes my main focus for awhile. The chances of all 5 programs folding is much, much smaller. Prosperous regards, Martin ************************************************************ There are two ways to face the future.
