Hi, great points.  I have a page @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/cryptoadvertisingonfacebook of which is now at just under 84K followers just using organic traffic and understanding how the algorithm works.
Firstly research a name in your niche which is appealing.
Set up a page where people can post themselves, like an ad site.
Ensure you moderate the group.
Share your link to other like minded groups
Connect with engaging posts in other groups (Otherwise they will ban you for spam)
Send messages to group members of other groups once they like your post
Ask them if they want to join your group
Set up messaging system using Groupleads and set up your participation questions for anyone thats joins.
Simple questions such as @ FREE tools for Internet Marketing FREE Download - Please enter email to download instantly (This allows email capture from Facebook)
In the auto questions in group leads Thank the person for joining and mwntion they can share the group link and invite their group members also.
Repeat the process and then 6 months later - 1000's of people joining per day
Be consistant and keep doing it
Once Facebook see that you are creating this flow inside Facebook they will also help to promote the group for you.
There is also a setting within the page which you can turn on for Facebook to help you promote the group FREE.
This is the basics on how I built the group and generated lead after lead - quite amazing really.

True.  SEO is a great way to get direct traffic from search engines.  There have been some changes on Google and the fresher, more relevant your content the more likely it will be found in Google.

The more results I see the more I work.  Finding new ways, using new methods, building more traffic, designing more sites.  Books do definetely help.  I have started to review some of the books I read also on my Youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAXjnSzcR-k5oksHcxE6lqw  Personal development is the key and success books will open your mind and keep you motivated.  But you MUST read every day, listen to success podcasts/audiobooks, etc.

Traffic exchanges are not exactly known for being high tech. While it sounds really interesting, I think chances of anyone adding such features in the near future are slim. 

Mailers are my main method of advertising to reach more people with a single click.

I always us an American Express for payments as if sites do not provide the service purchased I can then get credited back by American Express.  Works within a couple of days and I have had full refnuds from a few sites.

I have worked for months building a full list of traffic exchanges and safelists which are still working.  Incredible that new ones are still popping up.  I have developed training methds which a=has boosted ny leads ove rthe past year.  But it all takes work and to be consisten is definitely the key.
